Deepawali Story

There are lot of stories telling about the formation of Deepawali. Below are some of them.

1. Return of Rama:-

The most famous story Deepawali is about Return of Lord Sri Rama (King of Ayodya) to Ayodhya after Winning war with Ravana. Sri Ramachandra was staying in exile for 14 years . At that time The Devil king Ravana has kidnapped the Devi sita the wife of Rama. So Sri Ram fought war with help of Hanuman sena and he killed Ravana, meghnad, kumbakarana and won the war. He came back to Ayodhya with his wife Sita and younger brother Laxman. To Celebrate the victory of good over evil and to welcome Lord Rama people of Ayodhya decorated their whole city and lit lamps. Soince then Deepawali is celebrated.

2. Incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi :-

Goddess Laksmi (of wealth and prosperity), was incarnated On the auspicious diwali day of new moon, which is 'Amavasya' of the Hindu month of Kartik the. Lakshmi maata appeared from the sea during the Samdura manthan (churning of the ocean). Samdura manthan was done by the demons on one side and 'Devataas' on the other side of ocean. Churning of Ocean was done in order to extract 'amruth' that help live for ever (become amar). People worship of Goddess Lakashmi, the Lakashmi Pujan, as lakshmi mata appeared on day of Deepawali

3. God Krishna Killed Narakasura:-

It is believed that God Krishna killed Narakasur the demon king ruler of Pragjyotishpur, in South of Nepal. Narkasur fought a war with lord Indra the king of Heaven and defeated Lord indra in battle. Narkasur snatched the Magnificent and very special earrings of Indras mother Aditi. Narakasura also put daughters of gods and saints into prision. Lord indra a relative of satybabhama (wife of lord Krishna). So Lord Krishna defeated Narakasura and saved all women from Narkasu cruelty. People celebrated this occasion with decorating their house with Lamps placed all over.

4. Return of Pandavas after exile:-

Kauravas cheated Pandavas on the game of dice and won the game. As a result Pandavas brother went to exile for thirteen years. As per condition they have to abscond for one year. If Kauravas was able to find and identify them in absconding 1 year period they have to repeat another 3 years in exile. After succesfully completing the exile period Pandavas returned to their country on deepawali day. People celebrated this wonderful occasion with lamps placed all over the house
